The 21 Day Challenge - Day 2

Today's challenge was to organize your desk.  Just the top.  Luckily the drawers are already nice and neat, but the external surfaces of my desk....well, let's just say it's well used.  This was a task I'd been meaning to do over my Christmas vacation, but just never seemed to get to it.  As you will see below, it was desperately needed.  Here's the before:

Yes, Mom, this is what is behind the closed office door.  I don't know WHY I left a whole ream of paper sitting on my tower.  Or why I have so many pens and Post-its.  Did I mention my fascination with the Post-it aisle at Staples?  There MUST be a 12 step program for this.  I have them in all shapes, sizes, colors, and styles.  I think that they may actually be gremlins.  They have to have gotten wet and multiplied.  That's the only reasonable explanation.  If you look carefully at the fist picture, you will notice a nice little set of drawers sitting on top of the computer tower.  No, there's not a good explanation for that either.  I had good intentions of organizing the area, but just never got around to it.  This was the perfect solution for my multiplying Post-it collection!  So, after a bit of rearranging, a little shredding, and some dusting I ended up with this:

The organizer was put to good use and the ream of paper put away.

The laptops were stored neatly and not piled in a stack.

I even found a solution for all of my loose change.  Luckily, the office is next to the laundry room!  I must thank Sasha, AKA - Dogzilla, for her help.  I don't know what I would have done without her assistance...(sense the sarcasm?)

Happy New Year

Today is New Year's Day.  It's the day where we take stock of the previous year and look ahead to the coming year with hope and optimism.  We get a proverbial "clean slate" every three hundred sixty-five days (yeah, yeah....I know....unless it's a leap year) with which to ditch old habits and vices and begin anew.

To start 2011 I am taking the 21 Day Challenge.

Our first "assignment" was to organize a drawer - preferably a "junk drawer."  I was inspired.  A not-so-quick trip to Staples later (LOVE the Post-it aisle) and I was ready to face whatever was lurking in my junk drawer in the kitchen.  It hadn't been cleaned out since I moved into my house over a year ago.  This is what I found:

I was SUPER glad that there weren't any gremlins hiding in there.  Since I rarely open the drawer (other than to throw something in there), I was not totally sure of what I would find.  After feeding the piggy bank all of the loose change at the bottom of the drawer, I gave it a healthy spray of Mrs. Meyer's Clean Day and set to work sorting through my junk.  It's amazing what long-lost treasure you can find in a junk drawer!  Now for the big reveal.....ta-da!

I have to say....it didn't take long at all AND my draw smells like lemon verbena now.  Happy New Year and may each day begin like a clean slate!  Cheers!
